Botox® (along with other neurotoxins including Dysport and Xeomin,) is FDA-approved to treat chronic migraines in adults age 18 or over. Botox blocks signals from the nerves to the muscles, resulting in muscle relaxation, specifically in the chewing muscles.  When the muscle cannot engage fully, the pain associated with hyperactivity is reduced.

Dr. Humphries uses neurotixin in conjunction with nightguard therapy to reduce facial pain associated with bruxism.
